Enhancing Security within Nevada’s Jewish Community: Ken Mead Takes the Lead

The Secure Community Network (SCN), a pivotal organization focused on the safety of the Jewish community across North America, has announced that Ken Mead will serve as the new Regional Security Advisor for Nevada. His appointment signifies a strengthened commitment to ensuring the safety of more than 70,000 Jewish residents along with 47 facilities throughout the state.
Responsibilities and Focus Areas
In his new role, Mead will be tasked with implementing and overseeing community safety initiatives, which include:
- Consultations and assessments for facilities and organizations
- Coordinating training programs and drills
- Threat mitigation strategies tailored for Jewish organizations
- Coordinating responses to critical incidents
Expertise and Background
According to SCN National Director & CEO Michael Masters, Mead’s extensive experience in law enforcement and counterterrorism makes him an invaluable asset. “Ken Mead brings exceptional law enforcement and security expertise to SCN’s mission of protecting Jewish communities,” he stated.
Before joining SCN, Mead served as the Regional Prevention Coordinator for Terrorism and Targeted Violence with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and spent 26 years with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). His experience includes working on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and leading the LVMPD’s Threat Assessment Program for Targeted Violence.

Jewish Nevada President & CEO Stefanie Tuzman added, “Given the rise in antisemitic incidents and acts of hate, community security is now more important than ever… Ken’s extensive knowledge and local law enforcement relationships will be instrumental in ensuring our state’s safety.”

This initiative is part of the larger LiveSecure Campaign, which has raised $130 million, marking it as the largest philanthropic effort to enhance security measures for Jewish communities in North America.
