REMSA Health Celebrates Exceptional Healthcare Providers at the Stars of Life Event

At the state capital, REMSA Health recognized the dedication of three outstanding healthcare professionals during the Nevada Ambulance Association’s (NAA) prestigious Stars of Life event. Heather Bushey, a flight nurse; Dale Miller, a communications supervisor; and Ryan Yarbrough, a paramedic were honored for their exceptional contributions to the emergency medical services (EMS) field.
“Every day I am humbled and inspired by the men and women who choose out-of-hospital healthcare as a career,” said Barry Duplantis, president and chief executive officer of REMSA Health. “Dale, Heather, and Ryan exemplify the characteristics and dedication of the dispatchers, nurses, and paramedics who care for communities across our state. I am delighted that we can recognize their contributions with this honor.”
Honorees’ Backgrounds
Heather Bushey
Joining REMSA Health in 1999, Heather Bushey became a vital member of Care Flight, the organization’s critical care transport division. She transitioned to a flight nurse role in 2015, having previously served as the Gardnerville base coordinator. Her commitment to healthcare extends back to her service as a medic in the Army National Guard from 1994 to 2004.
Bushey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Nursing and continues to mentor new healthcare professionals as a preceptor.
Dale Miller
Dale Miller boasts over 28 years of experience in emergency communications and is recognized as a certified emergency medical/fire dispatcher. Since joining REMSA Health in 1997, he has advanced through various roles, culminating in his current position as communications supervisor. In 2006, he completed the Fitch & Associates Ambulance Service Manager course, further enhancing his expertise in the field.
Ryan Yarbrough
In 2019, Ryan Yarbrough began his journey in emergency medical services as an emergency medical technician, later joining REMSA Health in 2023 as a paramedic. He has achieved significant milestones, including becoming a critical care technician and completing training as an emergency medical/fire dispatcher, further supporting the Care Flight critical care ground ambulance.

The Stars of Life event serves as a significant platform for recognizing the hard work and dedication of EMS professionals across Nevada. Events include an awards banquet, a breakfast welcome, and opportunities for participants to engage with state legislators representing their districts.
