Henderson Unveils 2025 Safe Pools Rule Campaign
The City of Henderson has officially launched its 2025 Safe Pools Rule Public Education Campaign, aimed at raising awareness about drowning prevention. This initiative, in partnership with the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters, Henderson Hospital, and the City of Henderson’s Fire Department and Parks and Recreation, marks its thirteenth year of operation.
Event Highlights
The campaign kickoff took place at Wells Outdoor Swimming Pool, featuring remarks by key community leaders, including Mayor Michelle Romero. She stressed the significance of water safety as the summer season approaches, encouraging families to prioritize discussions about this critical issue.
During the event, a mock drowning simulation illustrated the swift response needed in emergencies, effectively conveying the campaign’s life-saving message.
Community Commitment to Safety
Dan Pentkowski, president of the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters, remarked, “The Safe Pools Rule launch event marked another milestone in our ongoing efforts to prevent drowning incidents across southern Nevada. Our goal is to ensure that every family understands the risks and takes the necessary precautions to keep their loved ones safe around water.”
He reiterated the campaign’s focus on providing essential educational resources to the community throughout the summer months.
Current Statistics on Drowning
According to the Southern Nevada Health District, there were 38 submersion incidents reported in Clark County in 2024. Alarmingly, 74 percent of these incidents involved children under the age of four, primarily occurring in residential pools. These statistics underscore the ongoing need for effective public education campaigns like Safe Pools Rule!, aimed at minimizing such tragic occurrences.
