Nevada Dairy Farmers Invests in Future Agricultural Leaders
RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Dairy Farmers proudly announced the allocation of $20,000 in scholarships to four exceptional students at the University of Nevada, Reno. Each recipient, majoring in agricultural or veterinary science, received a $5,000 scholarship to support their educational endeavors.
Meet the Scholarship Recipients
The scholarship awards went to:
- Connor Anderson – Junior, Agricultural Science
- Kallie Carrigan – Secondary Education and Agricultural Science
- Acacia Dillon – Veterinary Science with a minor in Wildlife Studies
- Kira Rusinyak – Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science
Profiles of the Awardees
Connor Anderson has a passion for agriculture, having grown up in Nevada. He has developed a keen interest in dairy farming and its significant role in sustainable food production.
Kallie Carrigan, who is enrolled in the Nevada Teach program, plans to return to her hometown of Ely after graduation to establish an agricultural education initiative at White Pine High School. Her background in rural communities has inspired her commitment to cultivating future leaders in agriculture.
Acacia Dillon is on a path to becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, focusing on large animal and mixed-practice medicine. As a first-generation veterinary student, she is passionate about animal health and aims to enhance livestock health and sustainable practices.
Kira Rusinyak has a strong background in agriculture and a dedication to animal welfare, particularly in the livestock sector. She aspires to promote ethical farming practices within her veterinary career.
