Touro University Nevada Achieves Remarkable Residency Match Success
The College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University Nevada proudly announces a 99.4% success rate in residency placements for its graduating class of 169 students. This year, a notable 55 graduates will remain in Nevada, contributing to efforts aimed at alleviating the ongoing physician shortage in the state. Among the 320 available residency positions, nearly 20 percent were filled by Touro Nevada graduates.
Significance of Match Day
Match Day is a pivotal occasion for medical students concluding their four-year educational journey. On this day, which took place on March 21 at 9 a.m., students passionately anticipate discovering where their medical careers will take them. Graduates rank their preferred specialties, while residency programs also rank candidates, culminating in matched placements.
Class of 2025 Highlights
This year, 54 percent of the class matched into primary care disciplines, with internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, and psychiatry leading the specialties. Notably, internal medicine has emerged as the predominant specialty among students choosing to practice in Nevada. Additionally, six students secured military residency positions in specialties including psychiatry, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology, and family medicine.
