San Antonio is preparing for its second annual Festival of Faiths to be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the University of the Incarnate Word. The event is designed as a joyful gathering for the public to experience the city’s diverse spiritual fabric through music, food, art, storytelling and dialogue.
Last year’s inaugural Festival brought together 25 faith traditions and over 700 attendees. Organizers have expanded this year’s event dramatically: 44 different faith traditions are expected to participate. The festival will run from midday until early evening and is organized by the Interfaith San Antonio Alliance in collaboration with the University of the Incarnate Word. Attendees will have the chance to visit display and dialogue tables hosted by different faith communities, enjoy performances of music and dance, taste cuisines from food trucks, take part in intergenerational and family-friendly activities like storytelling and yoga, and explore interactive exhibits including a family genealogy station.

The aim of the Festival of Faiths goes beyond celebration. Organizers believe that bringing people from many religious and cultural backgrounds together helps build compassion, understanding, and civic unity, especially at a time when the broader national climate feels polarized. Rev. Wyndee Holbrook, Executive Director of the Interfaith San Antonio Alliance, has spoken about how knowing one another’s traditions can make it easier to connect across differences.
The festival is free to attend, though registration is required. It is being held at the University’s Student Engagement Center, with doors opening in late morning and programming running from about noon through 6 p.m. A prayer room will be available onsite for participants. Volunteers from the community are also helping to staff various areas of the event, from welcoming guests to helping with navigation and performances.
The expansion in scale this year reflects both strong community interest and growing recognition of San Antonio’s spiritual and cultural diversity. By offering a space where faith traditions can share their stories openly and respectfully, the Festival of Faiths hopes to foster friendships, reduce misunderstanding, and affirm that the city’s strength lies in its diversity.
