Henderson Symphony Orchestra Engages Students at Annual Concert 4Kids
The Henderson Symphony Orchestra (HSO) successfully hosted its annual Concert 4Kids on April 3, taking place at Lee’s Family Forum. The event attracted a large audience of approximately 3,000 attendees, including 2,463 students and 362 chaperones from 19 different schools.
Immersive Experience in Classical Music
This private concert aimed at students provided a unique opportunity to dive into classical music. The highlight of the event was the performance of Lemony Snicket’s “The Composer is Dead,” an engaging murder mystery narrative in which various musical instruments are depicted as suspects in the story. The concert culminated with a rendition of the iconic Harry Potter theme composed by John Williams.
Hands-On Learning Opportunities
Concert 4Kids also allowed students to physically engage with orchestral instruments, experiment with conducting, and interact closely with musicians and the music director. Alexandra Arrieche, the music director of the HSO, noted, “This is our favorite event of the year because music education is a big mission here at the Henderson Symphony Orchestra. It’s really special because we can show them that music is for everybody.”
Commitment to Music Education
This event represents just one of many initiatives offered by HSO to foster inclusion in symphonic music, supporting youth, emerging artists, and seasoned professionals alike.
